FELIX HOUSE

| “A house, simultaneously
connecting with the earth and sky. The lower level, a quiet, cool,
ground-hugging zone for bathing and sleeping. The upper level is
airy, lofty and emphasises transparency and communality…….arranged
under a lid like tilted ceiling……enjoying great coastal
views……” “It looks like a modern house designed around stone ruins………” |
Using simple, unadorned exterior materials, a building form complimenting the 60's fibro's and unpretentious detailing allows the Felix house to respond to the physical and social character of Torquay. |

The design response is a simple shelter, a hyperbolic roof of engineering merit hovering over the dwelling, providing weather protection, a place of prospect, a home with an unpretentious, yet striking quality. |

Exterior courts provide intimate garden views. The lower level has an introspective, internalised quality. |

The upper level encompassing the sea views is expansive and external.. connecting the living spaces with the trees, neighbouring rooftops and constantly changing ocean vistas.
